Finally some actual drawings.
This guys was completely amazing. He was extremely tall and skinny, but in the same time quite strong. You could see every muscle, every joint. Hell, you see the tendons that attach the muscles to the bone. He also had the best poses, he knew how to accentuate his body. This made him extremely easy to draw. His body made sense. You could see how his muscles work, why they are tensing, why there is a shadow on the skin. Hopefully, we'll get him again in a couple weeks.

these are just charcoal on cheap cheap newsprint. (best ones at the end)

Michelangelo grafity

"New lease of life for Michelangelo's secret drawings"

Experts in Florence are restoring drawings Michelangelo doodled on the walls of a cell-like room in which the artist hid for six weeks while the Medici family wanted him dead.
Mould had sprouted and salts had risen up the walls of the dank room under the Medici chapel. It was there that Michelangelo lay low in 1530 after losing the battle for a Florentine republic against the powerful Medici family, his former patrons
"The sketches were badly deteriorated," said Licia Bertani, the director of the Medici Museum in Florence. "We had to do this work, or the drawings were going to disappear."
The collection of around 50 "doodles", first discovered by Paolo dal Poggetto in 1975, include a self-portrait, a life-size risen Christ and some sketches experts believe are copies of figures the artist had painted earlier on the ceiling of the Sistine chapel.

Some have been covered with layers of paint or badly damaged by floods and the breath of thousands of people allowed to visit the small, unventilated cell after it was first discovered. Now, restorers have removed human remains found beneath the room, possibly victims of the plague, which continued to contaminate the air and walls.

Scholars, some of whom have questioned the authenticity of the drawings, will be able to view them by the end of this year.

Michelangelo initially flourished under the patronage of the Medici family, which lorded over Florence in the early 16th century. He designed the Medici chapel as the family burial place.

Relations turned sour when the artist became director of fortifications for the republic which ousted the Medicis from Florence in the late 1520s.

"I hid in a tiny cell," he wrote, "entombed like the dead Medici above, though hiding from a live one. To forget my fears, I fill the walls with drawings."

The Medici sentence on Michelangelo was eventually lifted by Pope Clement VII, himself a member of the Medici family, so the artist could continue work on the chapel and tombs for the Medici princes. He left Florence in 1534 without finishing the job.
I found this in my garden .... so cool !!

For Your Canadian Lawyer--1837 Good Luck Token

We Have Just Acquired a Special Token Issued in Canada in 1837--Give it to Your Lawyer as a Good Luck Piece

In 1763 France and England signed the Treaty of Paris and Canada became a British possession. By the 1830's England still had made no effort to provide an official currency for Canada. Several private banks were in operation and they issued paper money which served to facilitate large business transactions. However, the ordinary citizen had a real problem with the need to make change for small purchases. The metallic currency in circulation consisted mainly of British and foreign coins (French, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese and American), many so worn as to be almost unidentifiable. As a result, several banks and a number of merchants began to issue copper tokens to meet the need for small change.

The token we have, is amongst the best known. One side shows a person on foot, whose dress is very characteristic of a typical inhabitant of the period. Above is written: Province du Bas Canada, and below the denomination in French, Un Sou. The reverse carries a shield which is quartered. The quarters are filled with a rose for the English, a thistle for the Scots, a shamrock for the Irish and a beaver for the Canadians. The inscription reads Concordia Salus. Above the shield are the words "Bank Token" and below is the date 1837 and the denomination in English, half penny. The motto "Concordia Salus" implies that working together in peace and harmony the people will attain success for all. In reality the reverse of these tokens carries the Arms of the City of Montreal which were adopted in 1833. They were designed by Jacques Viger, a former mayor of Montreal and engraved by James Turpin about 1830.
Life Drawing starts again next week ! Hurray.....

What do u Guys think?
Brilliant Spaniard
Unfortunately, the life drawing classes have been canceled until exams are over. So nothing new to show u guys.

However, after about 3 hours of desperate internet searching I finally managed to find one of my favorite piece of description.

It's a journal entry about a line in the poem howl.

"who lounged hungry and lonesome through Houston
seeking jazz or sex or soup, and followed the
brilliant Spaniard to converse about America
and Eternity, a hopeless task, and so took ship
to Africa, "
(Allen Ginsberg, "How")

"In Houston, 1947- I was broke, stealing Pepsi Cola bottles to cash in and buy candy bars for hunger, waiting for a ship. Outside the old Union Hall, walking down the street, a Latin animal, Cuban, Spanish, I don't know. Electricity seemed to flow from his powerful body--black hair, curled wildly, looked impossible for him to live in society, to me--powerful malignant features--he was perhaps 22 or less--springing down the street in a tense potent walk, dangerous, powerful legs, not too tall, blue shirt opened several buttons on the chest, black hair curling sparsely on chest--he seemed made of iron, no sweat--or brown polished rock. I never saw in my life a more perfect being--expression of vigor and potency and natural rage on face--I couldn't conceive of him speaking English. I wonder what loves he had. Who could resist him? He must have taken any weak body he needed or wanted. Love from such a face I could not imagine, not gentleness-but love and gentleness are not needed where there was so much life. He just passed me by and I stood there amazed staring at him as he disappeared up the block & around the corner scattering the air in spiritual waves behind him. I couldn't believe he was human. He had thick features, black eyebrows, almost square face, powerful chest, perfect freedom of walk.
"

tons of really good travel photos, mainly portrets

Experimenting...
So, this week I tried something completely new: Watercolors. I hardly ever use color let alone something that is not a pencil or a pen. However they turned out ok.. well at least one is good enough to post, and I really enjoyed my self.

(ink and watercolors)

However for the final one I slipped back into my usual habits...(still not sure if usual habits is an oxymoron or not) And I believed it worked a lot better

(pencil, color pencil and watercolors)

Comments? You know I actually post these to get some input on them, good or bad :P
i wanted to put some more life drawings up, but it will have to wait to tomorow for my camera to charge, until then here's some high poetry and art
ode to spot - by data

Felis Cattus, is your taxonomic nomenclature,
an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature?
Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
a singular development of cat communications
that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion,
it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behaviour you display
connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

On a more serious note here 2 painting from my favorite romanian artist Valeriu Mladin. Unfortunately there's almost nothing on the net from this guy, and he hasn't even got an art album out. He's about 40, not all that young, but kinda wired, ... very wired as a person. Hopefully he'll get some older stuff on the net, or at least publish an art album... untill them this is all

Female life drawing !! by me ! has this world gone mad?..
I've made those at the coolest place in town the Gladstone hotel on Queen, where they have weekly life drawing classes .

By the way, SOMETHING GOOD JUST GOT BETTER !!! ... a lot better! Keith+Jack Mmmmm...

For all you Keith Richards fans <3( Warning : extreme 'sexyness').
Too much of a Goody-Goody for my own taste
I will break my rule of not writing about myself after midnight. This rule was put in place by me to ensure that i will go to bed at reasonable times. As you can well see this is not the case. However, for the first time in months i do not feel bad about doing something i said i will not do. It's actually quite refreshing.

I've reached the conclusion that i have become too much of a good kid, the perfect child as my parents always wanted! My marks are good, I am home in time, I did not touch a cigaret or got drunk in months. Also made dinners and cleaned my room. :)

Also on top of that i've never been so depressed, as i have been since september. i even started having sleeping problems Ugh... i look at my books sadly, and stare at the same page for 1 hour, used to learn because i enjoed it but now i'm not even interested in psych anymore, actually i'm not interested in anything anymore. The only thing that i look forward to is seeing andre, but even with him i have no patience and get anoyed too easily. If i was a dog my nose would be dry and hot!

I haven't played my guitar in years, even though i look at it often, sometimes even take it out of it's case. Never touch the stings though. i think i've lost one of my old schetch books and don't even care... the one that i have right now it's sitting on my desk, underneath a nice solid layed of dust.

What the Hell !!! i used to care about things, more than just my marks! i used to read, sing and dance, and make people anoyed just to see their face. i used to hang around my friends actually have something to say and come home with a smile. i used to be spontaneous and surpirse people with my reactions and ideas, but now andre can predict my reactions, even when i'll be happy or depresed. He probably saw this coming.

i can not make a plan for what to do next, nor any rules. I've just figured that out, and i'll see where that will take me.

PS: i've also relised how vain i am, the text contains 31 "i"'s . (excluding the ones in the PS)
Finnaly a working scanner !
As the title says i finnaly found a working scanner and i had my schetch book with me. This means ITALY PICTURES!! Well, drawings better said.
...finnaly i'm using this blog for what it is supposed to be used!

Anywho, enjoy ! i only put the good one :)
